Left 4 Dead 3 rumor and leak out round-up: Everything we know

Left 4 Dead 3 fake teaser
Dispiriting, information technology's a fudge.

Is Nigh 4 Dead 3 ever coming? It's been over cardinal long time since Left 4 Dead 2 was first released connected Steamer. Does that make you flavour old? Because I'm feeling jolly ancient moral like a sho. There's been none announcement of Left 4 Dead 3 for nearly a decade now, which is astonishing—because Left 4 Nonconscious 2 ended on a huge cliffhanger, because it was staggeringly popular and successful, and because rumors of a sequel accept been popping up for years.

American Samoa faraway as we know, there's still no Liberal 4 Dead 3, Valve steady stanchly denied it in January 2020. But there have been many, some rumors to pore over. The lack of an official announcement from Valve hasn't stopped up hoi polloi from creating slew of hoaxes and fan-made 'leaks' in the last hardly a years. If this doesn't prove fair-and-square how starved zombie enthusiasts are for eventide the slightest suggestion of L4D3, then I don't know what does.

We've gone hinder through the past decade of Left-hand 4 Dead 3 rumors to determine what was fake, what was plausible, and what those "leaks" might be fit to tell United States. Here's everything we well-read nigh Left 4 Barren 3 so far.

As of 2020, Valve is "absolutely not" making Left 4 Dead 3

Early in 2020, HTC China president Alvin Wang Graylin divided up a few slides from his talking connected the future of VR, including unrivalled that said, "Valve Hectoliter Alyx/LFD3 will drive consumer and AAA studio interest." Naturally, folk ran with the idea that this was some insider confirmation of Left-handed 4 Dead 3, despite the acronym being slightly turned.

Valve quickly stepped in and provided a statement to IGN locution, "we did briefly explore some Left 4 D.o.a. next opportunities a few years ago. Simply we are utterly not working on anything L4D related now, and haven't for years."

"It's clear some mass are having fun creating misinformation to spin up the community and other outlets. Unluckily, for directly a new L4D game is not something we're working on."

Graylin then clarified on Twitter that unfortunately his "LFD4" example was fair-and-square personal speculation, tending that he's a fan of the serial publication himself. Drat.

Back 4 Descent is basically Nigh 4 Doomed 3

Thus Valve ISN't making Left 4 Dead 3, simply Turtle Rock Studios totally is, though under a different name. Evan has played the cooperative zombie game Spinal column 4 Pedigree and we named in the best co-op game of 2021 in our awards for the year.

"I call back that speaks to Back 4 Blood's strengths over Left 4 Bushed 2: IT pushes you to try new things, and it's not only when replayable because shot zombies is fun," Morgan explains. "IT always has a new deckbuild to test out, a gas pedal you've barely touched that's amazingly good, operating theater a nasty combining of Corruption Card game that puts a novel twist along a mission you've through with in front. It's Left 4 Dead but more, and often better. Consider that Back 4 Roue has crossplay with every program and has been on Game Pass since day one, and IT's one of the easiest recommendations of 2021.

Information technology's not Left 4 Dead 3 in appoint, just it's likely the closest that we'll get anytime soon, so it's worth holding an eye on if you're really, really hungry to bite into extraordinary zombie-killing co-op.

Is there proof Left 4 Dead 3 is in development?

Candidly, in that location's little to go on. The series' lead writer Chet Faliszek hinted at the opening of a third installment in an interview with Eurogamer back in 2012, but we've had nothing but radio shut up from semiofficial channels since. Faliszek left hand Valve in 2017. We were recently teased with an impressive game trailer that seemed almost official but unfortunately wasn't, as addicted to us by Valve itself.

In 2016, it seemed like Valve had slipped up by including possible L4D3 leaks in an HTC Vive benchmark puppet built using their Source Engine. Valve News Network's Tyler McVicker unearthed several references and assets in its source files, including a new special infected enemy named The Nocturnal, a day/night motorcycle, and an older manful character. Whether he was supposed to be an NPC or a Survivor is unknown. A direct connection between the files and the brave's development was never recovered.

Subsequent that year, Valve fansite ValveTime reported that employee Tristan Reidford appeared to leak proof of L4D3's development after publishing a Destinations Workshop Tools tutorial to Steam. The tutorial included a screenshot of his Windows Explorer favorites, with a 'left4dead3' folder traded at the top. The image was quickly removed and replaced with a different one. Was this a legalize mistake or an intentional tease?

An persona uploaded by Valve that lists "left4dead3" in the file out structure. It was taken down and replaced.

Who might be nonindustrial Left 4 Brain dead 3?

It was hard predicted that Turtle Rock musi Studios, the developer behind the original Left field 4 Dead, operating theatre Valve, which developed L4D2 itself, would constitute attractive on the ontogenesis of L4D3. Simply it seems sound to enjoin now that Turtle Rock by all odds International Relations and Security Network't interested. In Oct of 2021, Turtle Sway discharged Back 4 Rake, which is definitely a spiritual heir to the Left 4 Malfunctioning series.

If Leftfield 4 Dead 3 is in developing, it seems likely information technology's within Valve. But that's good a guess based on some of the rumors below, which have never amounted to anything. It's eve possible Left 4 Asleep 3 was in development at close to point, but isn't anymore.

An image "leaked" onto the NeoGAF assembly in 2014, supposedly showing a L4D2 level remade in the Seed 2 engine. Nix always came of it.

What are the strongest, most believable rumors?

Left 4 Dead 3 rumored concept art

Supposed Left 4 Dead 3 character construct artistry from 2013

The most likely rumor comes from Valve News Meshing's Tyler McVicker again. Stopping point month, atomic number 2 dropped 29 screenshots believed to live from a 2013 anatomy of L4D3, stating that information technology was in development a years ago just has since been off. Though the images look nothing like the games we know and have intercourse, it's not hard to trust Valve canned IT if it was in maturation. Especially since information technology's never officially announced a new Left 4 Dead, despite knowing that fans absolutely crave it. But who knows?  The screeenshots look back more look-alike assets for Parry-Strike: Global Offensive, and it's entirely affirmable they were simply victimized as test environments.

There is roughly more attest in their favor, though. Moby Francke, a construct artist for L4D, uploaded what fans believe to represent L4D3 concept nontextual matter onto his subjective web site upon leaving Valve in 2013. The drawings are believed to be straight off joined because of a series of clothing and skin textures contained within a 2015 version of Aperture Robot Fix uploaded onto the Steamer Database. The textures are almost identical to the garments worn by the men in Francke's art, leaving little room for conjunction.

Left 4 Beat 3 could be VR too

A known Valve newsman/leaker has tweeted a collection of claims and predictions including Left-of-center 4 Dead in VR. It would add up for Valve to continue rolling with whatever technical school information technology's been developing for Half-Life: Alyx sol L4D in VR ISN't so wild a thought.

Were any of the leaks legitimate?

It's very hard to believe that some of the leaks aren't real, especially since a handful have unintentionally number from Valve itself. Nothing has always been formally confirmed though, leaving the door for speculation wide open. And because some of the leaks are today eld yellowed, it's again possible that Nigh 4 Dead 3 was in growing at some point just has since been cancelled.

One making water had most of the internet fooled into false genuineness in 2018: a bogus Facebook page. Cyber sleuths hacked the administrative body Left 4 Dead website and changed the Facebook link to a forge paginate supposedly belonging to developer Ted Kit Carson, with the header sportsmanlike a zombie hand belongings up ternion fingers. Left 4 Dead 3 confirmed, right? You can't blame masses for descending for IT if the link was happening the official web site. The excitement didn't last long-term, as Valve quickly squinched the rumor down past ever-changing the colligate back to the real Facebook Thomas Nelson Page.

Carson's name had already popped up in the rumor mill few years before afterwards a Pastebin dump allegedly revealed that he was working on the sequel. His name was also included in a leaked photo claiming to be of the changelog history on a developer's PC screen at Valve's home bas, display that he made edits to L4D3 content. Neither were of all time confirmed to be veracious.
